a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell
Mary Crystal Wood's record is sweet and has a nice homey feeling to it. You get the sense that she had a good time making it. It's sort of country but with pop and gospel mixed in.
"Only Wednesday" is a nice song with a charming melody. Wood sings of wanting to take time off when the weekend seems far away. Well, we've all been there.
"Ask for the World" is bright and up-tempo. Wood sings gently but convincingly.
"Queen of Not Enough" is lazily sensual like Lucinda Williams can be. Wood sings of feelings of inadequacy with feeling.
"Catch Me" is a gospel-tinged ballad with wonderful backing vocals.
"Pour it Out" is a fifties style song that Chris Isaak might have sung.
The cover of Beatles' "I Will" is simple but impossibly lovely and ends the album.
"At Your Door" is short but sweet.
