Louisa John-Krol is an Australian singer who has made an album of incredible beauty. She has a great deal of lyrical depth and musical dexterity. Her songs are easy on the ear and leave a lasting impression.
There are similarities between John-Krol's ethereal style and that of singers like Enya, but John-Krol is her own woman. She sets lines from Shakespeare's "The Tempest" to music with breathtaking results on "Ariel". The lovely ode to doomed folk singer Nick Drake;"Salamander" is above the trite sentiments such a subject might have inspired in others.
Louisa John-Krol is someone who puts a great deal of effort into her songs and it shows.
