 "Apolune"
by Elaine Lachica

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

Elaine Lachica's debut "9" was a marvelous record and this follow-up delivers on all counts. She makes her music a modern version of the classic 4AD-sound with angelic vocals and heavenly melodies.

Opener and title track "Apolune" is gorgeous. Lachica's vocals twisting round a calm melody.

"Shrinking Violet" enters the Cocteau Twins realm but with actual words sung. The dreamy sound is underpinned by Lachica's piano and whispering vocal.

"Milk River" is an understated song that still conveys much. The singer can mesmerize using the smallest of gestures.

The vocal on "Illumina" is breath taking. One second it's high, almost operatic, the next it's almost like throat singing is taking place. Add a fluid melody and you have a work of art.

"Apolune" is lovely beyond words.
