Annie Crane (EP)
by Annie Crane

a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

This album has got a sort of low-fi quality at times. It sounds a little tinny. I don't mean that in a bad way, it certainly creates a mood. There's an almost spooky feel to this record. And I love it.

There's a good amount of echo on her voice, as on Ring Down. It almost sounds like she's singing in another room and you're overhearing her. Very interesting effect.

Franny & Zooey is rhythmic and emotional. It strikes me that I have no idea what to call this genre. I guess folk fits best. But it's a little more sophisticated than your average folk.

Oliver uses violin and it's passionate and lovely. The end is almost chilling. You'll dash to the CD player to hit repeat when it's over. This EP is too short!

I really like this, it's different and not going to be for everyone, but it's quite cool. I am highly recommending it. I just wish she had a real website (I am so over MySpace).
