"All the Stars" by Maya Flyer

What strikes me first is that lead singer, Lisa Hirst Carnes has a really pleasing voice. She makes singing sound effortless, and I know it's not.

"Day & Night" has a bit of rap on it, which I can usually live without, but it sounds pretty good here. For the most part, I'd categorize this as dreamy piano rock with a little folk thrown in.

"Erin Takes the A-Train" is really pretty and reminds me a little of Brit pop group Everything But the Girl.

"Annie's Stand" and "Walls In Tennessee" are a little more folksy. The whistle in the background on "Annie's Stand" gives it a 70s feel (or is that just me?)

Throughout, Carnes' voice is very consistently spot on and the songs are well written pop.

This is a really nice recording from a band I knew nothing about but am glad I now do! They are based in Minneapolis (where I am) so hopefully I'll be able to see them live sometime.
