 "Allison Sattinger"
by Allison Sattinger

a Review by Amy Lotsberg Producer of Collected Sounds

Of all the CDs I've listened to recently, this one is a real stand out. I saw the guitar on the front and thought, 'oh god, if this is another Ani wanna-be I'm going to just give up this whole thing' but I'm happy to report that Allison Sattinger is not a wanna be of any kind.

She's first off, a great songwriter regarding both lyrics and melodies. The production is also very professional sounding. The backing vocals on "Blackbird" are perfect. Just enough there to enhance but not overpower the lead vocals. That is something that several other musicians have trouble with in my listening experience.

She's got some great lyrics such as, " I wanna go So far south that I don't speak the language" she sings on "Sugar Daddy"

Her voice is smooth and jazzy and flows over the words nicely. Her music is familiar. Not to say it's derivative, but it's homey, comfy, like you already know it upon first listen…at least that's how it feels to me.

I guess if I had to compare her to anyone, it would have to be Norah Jones just because of the soothing quality of the sound. I will say, if you like Jones you'll probably dig Allison Sattinger.

Stand out songs: "Miles", "Pair of Aces"
