"Adam Evil and the Outside Royalty"
by Adam Evil and the Outside Royalty

a Review by Anna Maria Stjärnell

After some promising eps this remarkable group are now ready for their debut full-length. Musically they are about an updated glam rock(very Bowie/Bolan) with hints of Pulp's wittiness. The addition of Echo on violin and Kat Agres doing cello gives them that extra edge. "Just Past Laughing" sees the vocalist who calls himself Adam Evil giving a rip-roaringly strong performance to a Roxy Music meets Pulp strut of a song. It's nothing short of anthemic. "Heavy" is so T Rex it's almost a tribute, all massive choirs and bittersweet guitars. It's heartening to hear such a sound today. "Love Song At The End Of The World" lives up to its title by having a brilliant chorus and some great violin bits. "Desperate Angel soul" is a lovely ballad that's very soulful. This debut uses the music of the past, but its heart is of today.
